Up on the rooftop . . . oh dang

Santa was a little too fat for the roof to handle in Mainman's Ho-Ho-Uh-Oh. For those who don't know, Toby is a headless Scala baby that has come to an unfortunate end at the hands of many Builders Lounge members. Be sure to check out the many details in this MOC, like the lamp and the lightsocket. The minifig as a stuffed toy may be my favorite little touch.

Don't know when Giz'll be back again

Jesus Diaz of Gizmodo has been on a trip to Billund, Denmark, the center of the Legoverse. Among the many things he saw there was this massive Airbus A380. At 9.5 feet long with a 10.5 foot wingspan weighing 220 pounds this is the LEGO model that Howard Hughes could only dream of. Be sure to follow the link to watch a video showing all around this beast.

Bride-and-groom pairs at miniland scale are very popular MOCs as cake toppers and wedding gifts, such as this couple by SCHFIO.

Baby you can drive my scooter

Eric Hunter is an AFOL who subsequently became a Master Model Builder at Legoland California. He's built a number of vehicles, many at or near miniland scale, such as this Vespa. Here's a great interview with Eric where he talks about working at Legoland.

New LEGO store

Nate.jacobs and other members of AZLUG were there to celebrate the opening day of a new LEGO store in Chandler, Arizona. They must build the models on display at a central location and ship them to the stores, because the sumo wrestlers are also on display at the LEGO store in Tysons Corner, Virginia. There are some models at this new store that are new to me, though, like these circus and camping scenes. Does anyone know who actually builds these? Is it the model team at Legoland California, someone at Enfield, or do these come over from Denmark?

Karate

In the previous post I mistakenly attributed a Legoland builder's MOC to Monsterbrick. It seems only fair that I should feature something that Monsterbrick did build - karate fight.

Turtle power!

Monsterbrick presents the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. Edit - Looking again, it appears that Monsterbrick did not make these, but saw them on a behind-the-scenes tour of Legoland California. I believe these were actually made by LeGoPiRaTe1, who is (or was) a Legoland builder.

Every girl's crazy 'bout a sharp dressed brick

Stephen Sander made ZZ Top's Eliminator, along with other cars and figs, some of which seem to be his reproductions of things he's seen on his visits to the Legoland parks.
