The Flickr Group LEGO Creativity Challenge! is holding Challenge #6 to build a miniland-scale figure. William Ward has the first entry with a classic spaceman.
Recently featured former Legoland Master Model Builder and now free-lance LEGO professional Mariann Asanuma has started a new blog, Modelbuildingsecrets's Weblog. One of her first entries is her creation of Michael Phelps, in honor of his great achievements in Beijing.
Scandell has built an awesome rendition of the VW Samba-Bus. Though no Miniland-scale figures are present, I can easily see a few hitching a ride in this crazy thing. The attention to detail is fantastic; check out the seats and rear engine!
Chris Doyle, of Reasonably Clever is hosting a Brick Science contest and Shane Larson and myself are guest judges. The connection? We're all scientists. That's right, with fancy degrees and everything. Build something inspired by good or evil scientists, real or fictional to win fabulous prizes. Here's Steve Bishop's Professor Hubert Farnsworth for some inspiration.
Members of HKLug (the Hong Kong LEGO Users Group) have a group display at what seems to be the "Animation Comic Game" convention. The display includes two miniland scale vehicles.
Last week I blogged a miniland Luke that Gary McIntire brought to Star Wars Celebration IV. In his photostream, he has many more pictures, including the Skywalker homestead, R2-D2 and a father-son reunion.
A few days ago I blogged about Gary McIntire and his bid to work at Legoland California. Here's a better shot of his entry in the finals of the Master Builder Search.
The Ambassador Membership at Legoland California is a lifetime of goodies (though at a pretty steep price - get one for your kid so they can reap the benefits for the next 80 years and the price averages out quite nicely, though). One of the exclusive benefits is an annual building day with the park's Master Model Builders. Jljm is a member, and here are some people he built.
