Anything but fig scale

I wasn't sure whether to post this here or at MicroBricks. Epicbmxertothecore mixes miniland figs with micro vehicles in Off Road Buggy.

Spooky stuff a little late

There's still some great Halloween stuff out there I haven't noted here. Mariann Asanuma built this Halloween Hearse back when she worked at Legoland.

Election day

It's election day here in the US. Who will be the next occupant of the White House? Thanks to Lonnon Foster for this pic from Legoland California.

Happy Halloween

Nicholas Wright has a number of pictures from Legoland (I think California). The park has been decorated for Halloween, including these trick or treaters.

Good to know that our politicians aren't the only embarrassing ones

Since some (at least me) may not know the backstory behind Hippotam's chair race, here is the explanation in his own words:

Recently, Poland (and Europe) witnessed on of the most grotesque conflict between Prime Minister and President, nicknamed “plane war” or “chair race”. Both gentelmen fought over who will represent Poland at Brussels EU summit. Until the very begining of the meeting we were not sure who will sit on the chair…
I felt so embarrased that I had to let it out.

What's the fastest way to the hospital?

Jump in front of an ambulance, of course. Check out Steven Marshall's great Bedford Ambulance, that was included in the hospital display shown over the past couple of days.

Okay, now let's check out the interior of Yvonne's great hospital.

Doll Hospital

In a similar vein to the dollhouses featured recently, Yvonne Doyle, along with Steven Marshall and Pete Reid, presented this great hospital at the Great Western LEGO Show held by the Brickish Association on October 4 and 5. Via the Brothers Brick.

Okay, a little more dollhouse

In looking at Heather LEGO Girl's dollhouse, I remembered that Janey Cook has an awesome dolls house. Unfortunately there are not a ton of pics online, with only the kitchen and a little of the furniture shown in detail. One little bit I love is the tangle of cords behind the computer desk.

Okay, let's man up for a bit

After having this blog dominated by hairdos and dollhouses for a while, it's time for a shot of testosterone. Mad Physicist made this great Impala for the Color me Strange build challenge on Lugnuts.

LegOscar the Grouch

Perhaps not the most exciting MOC, but just the sort of realistic detail to put in a Miniland scene: LegOscar made this garbage can.

Dollhouse, take 6

Last installment from Heather LEGO Girl's dollhouse, the dining room. In particular look at the texture to the paneling on the walls and the pattern on the floor, also the light fixture. I've always thought I would make a dollhouse for my daughter when she got big enough. I used to think I'd do it at fig scale, but now I'm thinking this scale has so many greater opportunities. Hmm, maybe I should start now so it'll be ready in 3 or 4 years.

Batter up!

A cool new trend is the production of limited run exclusive sets as giveaways at the openings of LEGO Stores. Starwars4J was one of the lucky first customers at the new store in Braintree, MA, and got this baseball player. His review (follow the link) includes instructions, so you could make one of these for yourself if you want.

Dollhouse, take 5

Next from Heather LEGO Girl's dollhouse, the bathroom. Those towelracks are great, and the solution for the toilet paper roll is so much better than the standard white 1x1 cylinder. Cute toy boat in the tub.

Dollhouse, take 4

Next up on Heather LEGO Girl's dollhouse, the living room. More proof that all of those accessories, animals, etc look best at this scale. Great clock. I've seen that green exo-force hair used as a tree at microscale and a lettuce for minifigs, but here it's great as a houseplant. I would have rather seen brickbuilt figs, but in a dollhouse the Belville figs are appropriate.
