Fancy hats for minilanders
In celebration of the upcoming Royal Ascot horse race, Legoland Windsor brought in the queen's own milliner (hatmaker) to make custom hats for the queen, Duchess Kate, and other women in the royal family.

Happy birthday, Classic-Castle!
In addition to maintaining my little family of LEGO blogs, I'm also actively involved in Classic-Castle.com, the source for all your LEGO Castle needs. Classic-Castle just turned ten years old! In recognition of that, let's feature something appropriately themed. Here is
Edinburgh Castle, from Legoland Windsor.

George Alexander Louis
The Legoland parks have often highlighted current events, such as the Obama inaguration, a Papal visit, or even an environmentalist protest. Legoland Windsor has often highlighted the British royals, and here we see the new baby and eventual king George Alexander Louis. This video promises more LEGO renditions in the future as well.

Happy Fourth
For the Fourth of July, and the 150th anniversary of the turning point of the US Civil War (with the Union victories at Gettysburg on July 3 and Vicksburg on July 4, let's feature the Lincoln Memorial, from Legoland California.

Royal royals
The actual-diamond-crowned Queen Elizabeth II will be on display next week at Legoland Windsor next week, and will then be on display at the Legoland Discovery Center in Manchester. As seen below, the figure is on a balcony of Buckingham Palace, along with Prince Philip, Charles and Camilla, and William and Kate. In a photo accompanying this article, I think that's Harry down on the ground in front of the palace below the balcony. Poor guy, I guess that's what you get for being third in line. What happens after William and Kate's baby is born? Will Harry get sent off to Legoland Malaysia? Anyway, I'm a little confused, as I've reported this figure before, almost a year ago, and the article I cited there said it would be on display. I'm guessing that a fig this costly has probably only been on intermittent display, and the two articles in the news today didn't realize that the upcoming display is a repeat. Anyway, if you're in Windsor, check it out.

Love, Miniland style
Last year Legoland Florida celebrated Valentines by putting 48 different loving couples here and there around Miniland. Here's a video that shows some more.

Miniland Malaysia
This weekend marked the opening of LEGO's newest theme park - Legoland Malaysia. I'm sure I'll be posting a lot of images from the new park in the days ahead. Many of the pictures I've seen so far seem to come from pre-opening press events. Here's an overview.

I assume a this guy is a park employee and not a random guest.

Double, double toil and trouble
Fire burn, and cauldron bubble. These witches were seen at Legoland California at Halloween ten years ago.

Florida
Mariann Asanuma is visiting Legoland Florida, in celebration of her recent birthday. As a former Legoland builder, she was sure to get a lot of great pictures.

Legoland Windsor
Huw announced this drawing on Brickset. If you're in the UK go here for a chance to win free tickets to Legoland Windsor. You have to answer a trivia question to answer, but I'll save you the Googling. The answer can be found in this fact sheet about the Star Wars display.

English Star Wars Miniland
Huw from Brickset has pointed out that flump6523, who was with him at the Legoland Windsor Star Wars Miniland display has posted several walk through videos (9 in all). You can use how they use lighting and sound, and also have some moving parts.

Star Wars Miniland Windsor
Huw over at Brickset has been to the new Star Wars Miniland display at Legoland Windsor and given his report. Unlike all(?) other Legoland Miniland displays, this one is all indoors, which he said was problematic for photography. Perhaps they decided this would be better for the long term lifetime of the models, and also make this section of the park more accessible during inclement weather. As with the other SW displays, this has scenes from each of the movies and from the Clone Wars series.

The Force is finally with the UK
If you're in Britain, then you're in luck. This coming month Legoland Windsor will be opening up a new section, Star Wars Miniland. Presumably this will be very similar to the displays in California and Denmark, though I'm sure there will some variations between how things are laid out at each park, and maybe some England-only Easter eggs. E.g. I'd love to see Queen Elizabeth having tea with Queen Amidala.

Where in the world is Gary?
I've previously noted the travels of miniland Gary. Well, he hasn't been idle. He apparently got to spend his winter break in Florida, where he went to Legoland, DisneyWorld and Epcot. Unfortunately he seems to have lost his head in a tragic accident.

Happy Halloween
Every year the miniland displays at the various Legolands are decorated up for holidays. SoCalRay has a gallery of pictures from Legoland California Halloween 2002.
