A small step for miniland
The Flickr Group LEGO Creativity Challenge! is holding Challenge #6 to build a miniland-scale figure. William Ward has the first entry with a classic spaceman.

Ask Dr. Science
I was hoping we'd get some people to go the miniland route with the Brick Science contest on Reasonably Clever. Takua-777 gives us Gordon Freeman.

Pwn3d
Classic-Castle is conducting a Checkmate Chess Contest. Most of the entries are minifig variants, but Draugaer has thought out of the box with this blue pawn.

Greatest Olympian since Zeus
Recently featured former Legoland Master Model Builder and now free-lance LEGO professional Mariann Asanuma has started a new blog, Modelbuildingsecrets's Weblog. One of her first entries is her creation of Michael Phelps, in honor of his great achievements in Beijing.

Samba!
Scandell has built an awesome rendition of the VW Samba-Bus. Though no Miniland-scale figures are present, I can easily see a few hitching a ride in this crazy thing. The attention to detail is fantastic; check out the seats and rear engine!

Brick Science Contest
Chris Doyle, of Reasonably Clever is hosting a Brick Science contest and Shane Larson and myself are guest judges. The connection? We're all scientists. That's right, with fancy degrees and everything. Build something inspired by good or evil scientists, real or fictional to win fabulous prizes. Here's Steve Bishop's Professor Hubert Farnsworth for some inspiration.

Gary again
Okay, I'm done for now plumbing the depths of Gary McIntire's photostream for miniland stuff. I'll finish up with his Ariel and boat/card holder.

Sacre Coeur
I'm not sure, but I'm pretty sure this Sacre Coeur in Anatiasyran's Flickr stream is from Legoland Windsor.

Catches thieves just like flies
To be honest, most of these are at the wrong scale to be on this blog, but Tananavalley's Spider-man fits well into Miniland.

Building fun
The Ambassador Membership at Legoland California is a lifetime of goodies (though at a pretty steep price - get one for your kid so they can reap the benefits for the next 80 years and the price averages out quite nicely, though). One of the exclusive benefits is an annual building day with the park's Master Model Builders. Jljm is a member, and here are some people he built.

Red Circle
This display is, I believe, from the LEGO Imagination Center outside of Disneyworld in Orlando, Florida. Thanks to Snowbies for the photo.

Builder focus
Gary McIntire (aka MrGSnot) was a finalist in Legoland's national search for new Master Model Builders. While he didn't win the contest at that time, he later got an opportunity to work there anyway. This article from the Deseret News has some details about life at Legoland (found via ULUG and Based on a True Story)(hey, Nathan, why didn't you post this here?). Below are some Oompa-Loompas Gary built as a gift for another Legoland employee and his finalist entry from the Master Model Builder search.
