Tastes like zebra....

A winner has been announced for the recent "A Mime is a Terrible Thing to Waste" contest hosted by the good folks over at The Brothers Brick.  Congratulations to Iain Heath for both his victory and his great building techniques in "Tastes like Zebra."

I'm dreaming of a white Legoland Christmas

It looks like winter has come to Legoland Billund. It's just cold where I am. If we have to shiver, at least I'd like some snow.

Blue ribbon models

The LEGO stores regularly feature miniland-scale models. Unfortunately, these are behind little windows and are generally difficult to photograph. Kreativ Snail participated in building these blue ribbon models along with other PennLUG members and posted many photographs.

Orange tavern

Okay, I'm a little late for Halloween, but Nelson Yrizarry built what he calls a UCS scale tudor tavern, but I'll call it close enough to miniland scale. Check out the furniture and other great details.

Among the Lilliputians

One of the coolest things about working at Legoland, IMO, would be the chance to see all of the great models up close. Mariann Asanuma is a former model builder there, and she posted this picture of relaxing in the hills above Legowood.

Legoland Florida

Some details have come out on Legoland Florida, including some artists' renderings. The park will open in October 2011. Adult tickets will be $65 for a day, or $99 for an annual pass. Areas of the park will include The Beginning, Fun Town, Miniland USA, Castle Hill, Land of Adventure, XTreme, LEGO City, Imagination Zone, Pirate’s Cove and DUPLO Village. There's also a sneak preview video, but that seems to be all footage from Legoland California with a few of the artists' renderings thrown in.

Good and bad

I'm guessing that the next LUGnuts challenge will be something like "Good and bad", because Nathan Proudlove and Lino Martins have teamed up again to make a pair of miniland MOCs with good and bad, respectively. I can't wait to actually see the cars.

Bugatti

Lego911 has a great Bugatti Type 35B. I particularly like the grill plates along the side. My only disappointment is the arm design for the figure standing behind the car.

Lee Jones Memorial Dollhouse

You may recall from two years ago Heather LEGOgirl's incredibly detailed dollhouse. Well, she's been busy, because she's come up with an even larger MOC, the Lee Jones Memorial Dollhouse.
