Speaking of "on my knees" ...

Congratulations to Troy Cobb and Lacey Williams on their engagement. Troy proposed at Legoland California, and the Master Model Builders were in on it. A bride and groom, along with a sign popping the question, were strategically displayed in Miniland for the big moment.

Tractor

I think this is at about the right scale for this blog. Even if not, you should definitely check out Steven Marshall's tractor.

Hail to the chief, again

Kristi Klein notes how they updated the Obama inauguration scene at Legoland to match the clothes the participants were actually wearing. So here is her reconfiguration of the Obama family. More on Mariann's blog.

Common objects

Miniland building isn't all about the people (or cars). You could build just about any common object to fill up your miniland world, like this snowblower by Alexandr, a treadmill by yck888, or, perhaps my favorite, a porta-potty by Jarda. On this last, from his Brickshelf it looks like Jarda is assembling the pieces to make a construction site at this scale.

Happy Valentine's Day

For the first ever LEGO Miniland Challenge, romantic couples, Nolnet built 6627 Supersized, a miniland-scale version of the set from the '80s.

LEGO Transportation, part 2

A couple of days ago I noted the Wheels, Wings and Waves—a LEGO® World of Transportation currently showing at the Science World museum in Vancouver. Apparently part of this display was built by Robin Sathers, of Brickville Designworks. He said that after the exhibit is done in Vancouver, it will go to Regina in May. If you're in Canada, or can get there, keep an eye on the Brickville events page to see when this display will come to a museum near you. I'm hoping this will come south eventually so those of us in the US will have a chance to see it as well.

Let's take some ABS!

Ochre Jelly presents Talk Soup. The scale may be a little large for the focus of this blog, which gives me an excuse to point you to Ochre Jelly's new blog The Living Brick, where he'll be highlighting small sculptures. He actually notes that he won't be holding to the Miniland scale, so that blog will be a good complement to this. Someday there will be blogs running all the way up the scale from micro to full scale. Thanks to the Brothers Brick for the heads-up.

The wheels on the bus go 'round and 'round

Science World, a museum in Vancouver, is hosting an exhibit called Wheels, Wings and Waves—a LEGO® World of Transportation. Flickr user Roland has a great photo set. I'm not sure yet whether this will be a traveling exhibition - I'll try to find out.

Li

Looking around Nicholas Foo's (Blackbulb's) site, I found this amazing MOC: Li. This was dedicated to the survivors of the Sichuan earthquake. A series of miniland figures in meaningful poses come together to make the Chinese character Li, which means strength, endurance and perseverance in times of adversity. Follow the link to read his whole description.

Cisco

It looks like Cisco commissioned custom kits as a Christmas gift (to their employees? customers?) from a Nicholas Foo design. Thanks to Mhuffman for the pointer.

Just in time for Valentine's

It looks like the LEGO Miniland Flickr group is following the example of Lugnuts, holding regular build challenges. The first challenge is to build a romantic couple at miniland scale. C'mon, love is in the air. Let's see what you can do (keep it clean, kids).

Ski Windsor!

The Brickish Association held a New Year's Party at Legoland Windsor. Members received a custom skier kit as a party favor, probably designed by Guy Bagley, Chief Modelmaker at LLW. They had some fun posing these around the park.
