Back to School

If you are a child between 6 and 14, or if you have a child of this age, each month you can visit an official LEGO store to build and keep a free Monthly Mini Build model. In the US this is on the first Tuesday of the month, but check with your local store to be sure. Bill Toenjes has a great Flickr gallery documenting these. Last year LEGO held a contest to design a future model, and Paul Lee (Polywen) and his son won with Back to School. They won a year's worth of MMB models, but most importantly their design will be featured at a store near you in about ten days. Come out to the store, support one of our own, and get your own (er, have your kids get their own) copy of this great model.

Rollin' rollin' rollin', though the streams are swollen

It looks like Lego Monster is making a series of ancient vehicles, with his Mesopotamian ox cart from 3000 BC and a Hittite chariot from 1600 BC. I wonder what's coming next.

Barclay's Bank

Justin Ramsden created a miniland scale version of Barclay's Bank, which is apparently a bank in Darlington, England. This is currently on public display in Darlington as part of an exhibit called Art in the Yards. So if you're in northern England, or planning on visiting soon, stop by and check out this display.
